David Robinson is an American rock drummer best known as a founding member of the new wave band The Cars. Joining in 1976, Robinson was not only the band's rhythmic backbone but also a primary architect of its visual identity; he is credited with suggesting the name "The Cars" and designing several of their iconic album covers.
